Purple Fever is an event that has occurred at least three times in the world of Regnum, for all servers: 2011, 2012 and 2020. The 2020 event was to mark the 2020 Covid19 global crisis.
Information about how Purple Fever is not well known in the English-speaking player commnuity, because it is not generally published anywhere. This article is an attempt to explain how it works.
The event, really, should be a mad rush by all players to kill as many gargoyles as they can, as quickly as possible. This is because the rewards for killing large quantities of gargoyles arrives in the form of magnanite. Some reports say you can, during each event, earn up to 200 magnanite in rewards.
Based on the 2020 event, there were three quests available:
1) In Fisgael, a questgiver asks you to kill 10 Infected Gargoyles. The reward for doing so is 1 magna. This quest resets 30 inutes after each completion. Each subsequent time you take and complete the quest, you earn 5 magna. Upon each completion, you also get a Tree Sap Soap. This soap protects you from the Purple Fever for a few minutes, each time you use a soap.
2) At the realm gate, a questgiver gives you a quest to pick up 5 mushrooms. These mushrooms are only located in your inner Zone of your realm. The reward for completing this quest is a Medicine. If you equip this item in place of a weapon and use in on other players, you will cure them of Purple Fever. You can tell players have Purple Fever when they have purple animated smoke above their heads. When you have this fever, you will also have a green buff gem icon (same icon as for the Darkness spell). The effect of this fever is to reduce your hp by 5%. There is no other penalty with this fever.
3) At the realm gate, the same questgiver gives you a quest to collect Tree Sap. This item is only found in the Inner Zone of your realm. Upon completion, you receive a Tree Sap Soap.
All of the above quests are repeatable.
However, the biggest bonus is for killing Infected Gargoyles. The top 25 killers of Infected Gargoyles during each time period when this ranking is assessed (the time period resets with 2,000 new gargoyles every 30 minutes or so), will get a reward, provided your realm is not at 100% infected. The top 15 will get at least 1 magna reward. The 16 to 25th placegetters also get some form of reward. However, the No.1 position winner get 50 mags reward.
If your realm is ever 100% infected, then your realm gate will be vulnerable for one hour.
In general, the effect of this event is to distract most players from war, into hunting Infected Gargoyles for magna.
